Introduction to Meditation
In this workshop we will explore what meditation is, how it can benefit us in our lives and the lives we touch through a variety of meditation techniques. When we want to see a peaceful world, we need to start at one place first: within ourselves.
Oftentimes when we hear the word ‘meditation’ we might envision someone sitting peacefully in a lotus position surrounded by candles and incense. Although this could be one scenario, it is certainly not required to be the only one.
Meditation practice is a practice during which we make a conscious effort to connect with the deeper layers within ourselves, beyond the level of mind. Through meditation techniques we can learn to tame the monkey mind so that we can hear the silent whispers of our heart, our intuition.
During this workshop we will explore a variety of meditation techniques, such as gentle voice guided meditation, sound frequencies, and zen and mindfulness. We will learn about the importance of our breath and explore the power of our breath in meditation.
Everybody is welcome, no previous meditation practice required.
