HOWLITE is a borate mineral found in evaporate deposits. It was first discovered in Nova Scotia in 1868 by Henry How when miners in a gypsum quarry found it to be a nuisance. It is a whitish-gray colour with grey veins in a web-like pattern. Howlite is often dyed to resemble other stones such as turquoise or chrysocolla.

As a healing stone howlite is calming; used to relieve tension and anxiety. Place a piece of howlite under your pillow to fight insomnia.

QUARTZ is a member of the largest family of stones, the silica group, it is the second most abundant mineral in the Earth’s continental crust. Since antiquity, it has been used to make jewellery and carvings.

As a healing stone, it is known as the master stone, once thought to be solidified light. Special characteristics of storing (programming), amplifying and transmitting thoughts and energy. Obsidian is quickly cooled volcanic lava, which is a natural glass. The snowflake appearance is produced by internal crystalites, also referred to as flowering obsidian. Unakite is an altered granite composed of pink orthoclase feldspar, green epidote and colourless quartz. It is considered a semi-precious stone. Chevron prasiolite is a combination of green amethyst and white quartz that is often found in a V shape, or zig-zag motif.

Green amethyst is produced when heat is applied to amethyst containing iron compounds with specific properties. Most amethyst turns yellow, orange or brown when heated, but this type turns green instead. Since amethyst by definition is a purple form of quartz, green amethyst is sometimes called green quartz and could also be referred to as prasiolite. The common practice of heat-treating stone does not compromise the value of the resulting colored natural gemstone.

The healing properties of this gemstone are said to be amplification of energies (positive or negative) and inspiration to be original and unique.
